Mental health is universal, we all have it, good, bad or somewhere between the two. Mental ill-health doesn’t discriminate, mental illness can affect anyone – across all ages, genders, races and religions; mental illness is endemic across the globe.
We’re the Creative Mental Health Charity. A charity that does things differently, a charity whose team is made up of those who have lived experience of mental illness and caring for those with a mental illness.
We’re proud of our roots. Founded by two individuals who understand how it feels to be at the lowest point, who utilised creativity to save their lives. We now share our tools with thousands of adults, children and young people each year.
This year we are on target to have supported 6500 individuals with our Creative Mental Health Programmes, our Creative Mentorship Plans, Bespoke Wellbeing in the Workplace packages, assemblies, webinars, wellbeing calls and more.
We take the clinical out of the mental health sector while safeguarding all, leaving our clients feeling able to engage with our support and learn skills to improve and manage their mental health for life.
“PoetsIN has been a really helpful and supportive experience. I have enjoyed every session and met some amazing people. I met other people like me and heard some inspiring stories. I felt a part of something special and felt connected to the other participants.
It has given me a more positive outlook as regards my mental health, including useful tools to continue using for life! I felt part of something special. I know that my feelings matter. I feel less ashamed of who I was. I now know that I am worthy of being loved and treated with respect as much as anyone.
I learned some very good coping mechanisms/tools to help with managing my mental health. I am learning to use these in my daily life. I am able to express my thoughts/feelings better.”
Can you help?
We rely on grant funds to support a lot of the referrals we receive however, the grants available have reduced with more charities than ever trying their best to get support. We don’t turn anyone away, we pride ourselves on this; we know how it feels to not meet a very strict and rigid criteria for support, and have felt abandoned with no hope of improvement, just a worsening of symptoms until we meet that criteria.
Since January we have seen an incredible increase in all referrals where adult referrals increased by 220% and children and young people referrals increased by 673%. However, we are finding more and more that the referrals we receive aren’t covered by a grant, this leaves us with 93.75% of children and young people unfunded and 37% of adults unfunded. Paired with the increase of referrals, the increased competitivity within the grant sector, we are in desperate need of donations that can help us continue the vital work we do.
How can you help?
As a small charity, we really need support. We do so much with so little and we’re proud of that. With increased costs, less available funding, we hope you can help us. As Tesco’s once said: “every little helps,” they couldn’t have been more right; little or not-so-little, everything counts.
Here are some ways your business could help make a huge difference:
Donate: Make a one-off or recurring donation; you could also name us as your charity of the year, like Redwood Bank have. Businesses who make charitable donations can claim a tax relief and demonstrate their commitment to their ESG responsibilities.
Social Value: Do you hold a contract with the local authority? Could you utilise your social value funds to help us?
Enhance the wellbeing in your workplace: Join other employers in using our bespoke Wellbeing in the Workplace services to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of your employees, reducing absenteeism and presenteeism along the way.
Sponsor a service: Want to reach an audience? Want to get an update on the people you help to support?
If you sponsor a service, it allows us to provide the service to those who need our support, without denying access to those who we currently do not have funding for. Furthermore, we’d ensure that clients know your business has made it possible; this may include GP surgeries, schools, universities, the wider NHS, local authorities and more. We will also provide anonymised updates on the services you’ve sponsored so you can see the difference your business has made.
