Relationships, Prisons, and Why Writing Mends a Broken Heart.

relationships
It’s so hard to keep relationships going when ‘the other half’ is inside. Temptation to stray, or the absence of a loved one puts so much strain on everyone, but people forget how hard it is to be alone in here.

I can appreciate that it’s not great out there either, but when a loved one walks away and says “we are treading two different paths,” it is the worst thing to hear.

I have recently been through such a break-up and my heart is well and truly broken. Not only have I lost the love of my life, but a big part of my future too.

Now though, I need to try and move on. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be, but that doesn’t make the pain any less.

All emotions tend to be magnified within these walls because we have very little else to focus on.

Thank god I have my writing as a source of relief. Without it, I feel I would have just given up. As a ‘lifer’ I sometimes struggle to see an end to the dank dark tunnel, but through all of your comments and works of encouragement, I still keep on going.

Bear in mind if you know someone in prison, that at times we need all the support we can get. For some, it’s the only thing they have.
